My name is Mike Campbell. Some of you may know me. I played lacrosse at Sam Houston back in the middle to late 80’s. As you may or may not know, the Sam Houston Men’s Lacrosse program was suspended six years ago. I have been working with the students, Club Sports and the MCLA to get the program up and running since last Spring. In April of this year, I contacted SHSU Club Sports and the MCLA about restarting the team. With help from both organizations, I am happy to say, that we have been reinstated as a recognized club sport at Sam Houston and as a member of the MCLA.
We will be playing as a full member of the MCLA Division-lll in the Spring of 2023. We currently have eighteen players. Fifteen of them have lacrosse experience, two played NCAA Dlll lacrosse, and six of them were high school All-State players. It is my goal to bring Sam back to prominence and this group will give us a great start. This program has been one of the best in the LSA since Joe started it in back in 1980’s. To make this a program we can all be proud of, we need your help.
I am working on setting up an Alumni Booster Club and scheduling an alumni weekend in the Spring. I need help in reaching out to all the Alumni from the last 40 years. Please help get the word out.
